Powers Viognier 2015

POWERS VIOGNIER 2015

Description and Flavor Profile: With 2014 being one of the warmest vintages in a few years, Talcott Vineyard provided us with a nearly perfect balance of fruit character, pH, and acidity for our second bottling of Viognier. We are again very excited about the quality and balance of this wine. Conditions were such that we were able to harvest the fruit in early October. We used Elegance yeast and fermented cool in an upright stainless steel tank to provide a very focused wine with great aromatics and a bright finish.

Bright aromatics of sweet floral, kiwi, citrus, with a touch of mint on the nose, this wine is very focused and balanced on the palate. From nectarine and white peach to a touch of kiwi and citrus, the flavors are layered, bright, and savory. This Viognier has beautiful mouthfeel and finishes dry with a refreshing zip of acidity.

The rich fruit and complexity of this wine make it a delightful aperitif wih an avocado and grapefruit salad, crab cakes or proscuitto-wrapped melon. Powers Muscat Canelli 2015

POWERS MUSCAT CANELLI 2015

Description and Flavor Profile: Because of the delicate flavors and aromas, it is critical to harvest Muscat Canelli in the cool morning hours. Quickly pressed, chilled, and settled, the clarified juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks using the VL1 yeast. When it reaches the balance of acidity and sweetness we look for, fermentation is stopped by chilling the tank below the temperature where yeast can survive, thus leaving the right amount of natural sugar in the finished wine.

Fantastic aromatic layers of tangerine, ripe orange, melon and a slight touch of floral on the nose. The wine explodes with bright flavors of tangerine, fresh orange with a splash of citrus zest, and Charentais melon on the palate. This Muscat Canelli is a great marriage of fruit and acidity, with a nice bright finish.

Pairing: This Muscat is the ideal complement to many types of cuisine, especially ones on the spicy side, such as Pad Thai and other Thai dishes. The hot curry found in Indian cuisine also works well with this wine, as do grilled fruits. This wine also does great with Mexican Mole.

POWERS ROSé OF MALBEC 2015

Description and Flavor Profile: With this being our second vintage of the Rose’ we are very excited about the quality. We chose Malbec because of its unique charactics and bright acidity, and made the wine in the traditional style, pressing off the skins after close to 9 hours of cold soa contact. With a harvest date of the 26th of Sept, the Malbec achieved the optimal ripness for the style of Rose? that we were looking for. With the use of the Elegence yeast, fermentation took place in a temperature controlled stainless steel fementor to maintain the delicate fruit character in the wine.

Starting with layered aromas of fresh ripe raspberries and hints of blood orange on the nose, this Rose? explodes on the palate with springtime flavors. Fresh balanced flavors of oranges and raspberry, this wine is like biting into a freshly picked fruit with hints of spice and a slight mineral character.
